Lapland High School is the joint high school organization for the schools in Gällivare, Jokkmokk, Kiruna, and Pajala. Through collaboration, we can offer a wide range of programs and high competence, providing each student with the best possible conditions for a qualitative and future-oriented education.

For us, distance is not a barrier – we believe in transferring knowledge over great distances rather than moving students. This allows us to offer equal education, regardless of where in our area the students are located.

Our Adapted High School in Gällivare is a small but dedicated operation located in the Knowledge House alongside the other parts of Lapland High School Gällivare. Today, we have students in the construction and civil engineering program but will transition to accepting students in the trade and administration program starting autumn 2024.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a vocational teacher in the national program at the adapted high school, you are responsible for leading and organizing instruction for students enrolled in the national program.

You collaborate with other teachers within the organization and conduct a student-oriented teaching approach where your primary responsibility involves the vocational courses included in the education. You are also responsible for the workplace-based learning for students at the adapted high school.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a licensed teacher in Sales and Service, or has at least five years of experience in the trade sector and a strong drive to teach and mentor students. You should be an excellent communicator and team player who naturally acts as a bridge between school, students, and the business community. You have a good ability to understand the strengths and challenges of students and find different paths to learning based on that. You work from a clarifying pedagogy in your teaching and can use alternative communication tools such as signs.

You are curious about being part of building a new operation and are driven to collaborate with colleagues. You are secure, calm, and stable, as well as clear and structured in both your teaching and when collaborating with colleagues. You have good experience in developing educational activities to be both inspiring and challenging.
